About the Artist:

When Barb Ritchie decided to turn her long-time interest in art into a more important part of her life, she studied with prominent international artists to become proficient in several mediums. In turn, she became a popular instructor in the Barrie area. As an active member of The BaySide Artists, The Barrie Art Club and Quest Art School and Gallery, Barb exhibits paintings in several solo and group shows. When she achieved signature status in Pastel Artists Canada, her paintings appeared in juried shows across Canada. Many of Barb's artworks have found homes in private and corporate collections and have been fortunate to win awards. Her paintings may be seen at the Edge Art Gallery, downtown Barrie. 


 

 

 Workshop Description

This acrylic workshop is designed for adults - beginners to intermediate.


 Acrylic Techniques Workshop to
create a flowing sky.

At this workshop, Barb will teach acrylic techniques for creating beautiful skies with flowing clouds.

To create a sky similar to the one in the sample painting, very few colours are needed.

Participants are asked to bring their existing acrylic supplies and any extra colours, if required, can be shared.

Canvas boards, either 9x12 or 12x16 will be supplied or artists are welcome to bring a canvas of their own choosing.

The workshop will run from 11am to 3:00pm  The fee will be $40. with further Tuesday sessions planned for those wishing to continue learning to handle this versatile medium. 

 Supplies Needed

  • Barb uses a limited palette of hard body tube colours from various manufacturers, acrylic glazing medium (gloss), inexpensive synthetic brushes and a sta-wet palette in the smallest size. Bring the acrylic supplies you have, a water container and a palette to mix on (this could be wax paper taped to cardboard). Barb will supply 9x12 canvas boards to anyone wishing to use them or if you prefer a different painting surface, please feel free to bring it with you.
